Time for Europe to rediscover pragmatism

According to All sources it is almost certain that Donald Trump is elected as the 47th President of the United States of America. If one looks at the situation via the glasses of pragmatism, the result is — almost — irrelevant for Europe.

It’s been too long that we, the Europeans, have been living under the American umbrella and that is evidently becoming inconvenient for both parties.

Our American partners keep asking themselves ‘what’s the reason why we are undertaking the cost of European security?’. Many Europeans, on the other hand, as asking themselves ‘is it not somewhat humiliating to be deprived of an independent voice on the important foreign and defense policy matters?’.

Both Americans and Europens are right. It’s time to evolve our partnership to a different, more sustainable model.

What is the right response to this deadlock? Shall we see some kind of different routes for the USA and Europe? No, not at All. It is Europe who has to grow up, to decide to recognize reality which is that ‘in order to exist, Europe has to unite’. In that way, Europe, or to be more precise, the European Federal Union which Europeans will create, will turn into an equal, credible partner for the United States of America. Defending largely the same values, largely the same way of life, but in an independent, autonomous way.

By doing so, the United States of America will be able in the future to count on the European Federal Union, pretty much like Europe has been counting on the USA for so long.

Wake up, Europeans. It is time to move on and unite.

If you want to do your part in making this happen, join now the Together for Europe Movement for the European Federal Union.
