Pope Francis and The Great Schism

Apr 22, 2025

Pope Francis was one of the Popes who really championed the ending of “The Great Schism” and worked seriously to bring unity back to the Christian world — Thankfully his Peer in Nova Roma fully supported him (making thus Bartholomew often unpopular to conservative Greek religious cycles).

From a European point of view, the Great Schism did have very significant historical consequences which are still felt (!) and often explored by populist actors.

Working for — finally — ending it, it was indeed courageous. I wish that the dialogue will continue and the work will finally be completed.

Eastern and Western Europe might finally this way come closer.
