Generative AI, Software Development and Entrepreneurship
We are basically experiencing a tectonic shift, with the various LLM applications becoming able to more-or-less create an MVP based only on natural language instructions.
Well, in practice one will likely need a developer and a designer (or not?), but still the economics of running an ‘experiment’ (in the lean startup sense) are dramatically changed — they’re brought down almost to zero.
I frankly believe that we’re entering a new era, an era when those determined to build something, will be actually able to do so — and that’s a revolution.
From the ownership of the means of production (industrial era), we went to the rentership of the means of production (internet era) and now we witness a weird kind of ‘democratization’ of these means, in the sense that incredibly powerful software can be build pretty much by anyone (well, almost anyone).
No matter how one looks at it, the shift is huge. Tectonic in real.
And, for what is worth, I see little risk with that and a lot, seriously a lot of opportunity!
Capital first became (almost) a commodity and now it is becoming (almost) irrelevant. Small teams working with their own means will soon be able to do that it required raising millions until very recently.
