Are we dreaming of acquiring unicorn status? Well, no.

Several friends have asked me recently whether one of the Starttech Ventures portfolio companies could possibly be the first unicorn out of Greece; my answer is clear: we couldn’t care less.

Aiming for the 'unicorn status' not only is completely ridiculous and often absolutely fake (does 'participatory liquidation preference' ring any bell?), but also is just cancerous as far as entrepreneurial mindset is concerned.

IMHO the purpose of businesses is to sustainably maximize their shareholders value while positively contributing to the society in general.

I personally take great pride of the fact that thanks to our awesome teams, our premium tech solutions are accessible to All, at a monthly cost less than a meal in a below-average European or American restaurant.

This small group of people in Greece is indeed on the course of truly democratizing tech for businesses and it seems that they will keep being successful in doing so.

This has always been our purpose, our raison d’être, and we don’t plan to change it anytime soon — And btw, we do believe that remaining committed to this purpose is the best guarantee for keeping growing as fast as we do over the last years.
